A graphical mail client

Email is text, not a web page.

HTML was never standardized for email, and a mail client does not have to be a web browser. Pagkugi converts HTML to clean, readable text instead of rendering it, and keeps your mail in files you own — with no account, activation, or subscription.

The first release targets 9front. Other systems will follow, and the rollout is intentionally slow and cautious.

The Pagkugi mailbox window. The folder list shows Drafts, Sent, Archive, Junk, and Trash; the message list shows a personal inbox with a book club thread, a garden workday, and a library notice; and the selected message is a reply with the quoted original set apart from the new text.

Built on things that last

Plain text, not a browser

HTML is converted to readable text instead of being rendered by a web engine. Nothing in a message is executed or fetched silently.

Built on open standards

Pagkugi follows documented, interoperable standards rather than private formats, so your mail keeps working with other clients and tools.

Your mail stays yours

Messages live in open, inspectable files you can back up and read with other tools. No account, no activation, no telemetry.

Handling hostile mail

Mail arrives from the outside world, so Pagkugi treats it with care.

  • HTML is converted to readable text instead of being rendered by a web engine.

  • Remote resources are not fetched silently.
  • Local phishing analysis is kept separate from server authentication.
  • Senders can be blocked.

How Pagkugi compares

Pagkugi is not trying to be every mail client. The comparison pages profile the wider researched set, from newer desktop and terminal clients to provider services and historical references. The detailed comparison covers every feature, and every client has a page that states where it is the better choice.
